Breath is simple...

we are not

Inhale, exhale, pause... inhale, exhale, pause...

Our breath comes and goes completely on its own, carrying oxygen to our cells and carrying messages to and from our nervous system about how we are, whether we're safe and happy. It is also one of the few autonomic functions in our body that we are able to control—consciously or unconsciously—as a means of editing our complex emotional and physiological responses.

Ever wonder what would happen if we allowed our breath and listened to it exactly as it is? What would it say to us? What invitations would it make? Would we feel safer? Easier? More whole? What parts of ourselves would go free if we stopped doing... and started allowing?

No judgement, no assumptions,

no expectations.

Whether taking part in a group class, a workshop, or a one-on-one session, I always aim to operate under the same three principles of this work: no judgement, no assumptions, no expectations. These principles apply to me as your facilitator as well as the space as a whole—including yourself! Our daily lives are filled with a lot of "shoulds" and "should nots". Whether in the form of advertising campaigns, written rules, or unspoken social pressures, we have been inundated all our lives with messages telling us that there is a "correct" and an "incorrect" way to be.

I believe we can all benefit (individually and communally) from more opportunities to simply Be without the need to change, to adjust, to "mask", or to conform. This work actively fosters a space where all are welcome all ways: crying, laughing, depressed, angry, sore, energized, quiet, loud, anxious, struggling, thriving... Being present to our allowed breath offers us a way to sit with ourselves and one another exactly as we are with no need to be anything different. â€‹

When a friend is venting, we offer to listen and understand rather than fix. In this work, we offer ourselves the same generosity.
